Where can I buy chikens online
I want to order about 5 bantam chicks thru the internet. What website do you recommend? I tried to order them at www.mcmurrayhatchery.com but they only accept large orders (at least 25 chickens) which costs about $90 per package. I don't want to spend that much money on chickens! I just want a few, and I don't want to pay more than $25.
Answers:Seeing your question I went to my favorite poultry site and they don't have Bantams BUT I went on a search and I have found a site that ships smaller orders but you have to pay extra. . . . minimum order $25.00 with an extra charge for smaller order of $7.00 (as best I understood their policy without going into the buy mode).

They have several different breeds of Bantams and some of them are really pretty.
Every year during our Fair they have a Bantam contest and after the contest they sell or give away the birds who did not win. . . if this online site doesn't help then you might check something like this out.

Where do you live? The best thing to do is to find a local breeder. Find a local farm/animal store and ask them. My family raises chickens and gives them away and most people around that deal with animals know who has them for sale.
There is a site that is a forum. It is a backyardchickens board, run a search. They are passionate about birds and go out of their way to help pal up birds and good owners. The seasoned members will let you know if you are buying from a reputable breeder.
Meyer Hatchery in Ohio has a good selection of bantams and will ship small orders. Their shipping prices are very low, so you just might get five delivered for the price you are talking about.

Call around to the feed stores in your area, mine has bantams, maybe yours will too.
You can't order only 5 chicks by mail order. You need at least 25 for the heat. Try your local feed store or a breeder, or buy eggs and hatch them out.
