Where can i get good bird books2007-11-24 17:26:43

My great grandad is in his 80's he loves birds but cant get out much to see them, i looking for a xmas present for him, has anyone got any ideas.

Please help i dont know what else to get him.

Most large bookstores carry lots of books on birds.

As wonderful as I think it would be for your grandfather to have a bird as someone else suggested, I have a problem with buying someone who is 80+ years a bird that may live 20, 30, or 40 years. Eventually, that bird will outlive his companion and have to be rehomed. Unless you're willing to take the bird yourself, a bird as a gift is a bad idea.

How about putting up a bird feeder right next to Granddad's favorite window? We have two feeders and watch 100's of birds everyday, including Peachfaced Lovebirds and Budgies! Not everyone is lucky enough to live in Arizona where we have a wide variety of birds year 'round, but birds that winter in your area would appreciate food everyday and Granddad would appreciate the show.

Get a bird! If your great grandad is lonely then a bird is a perfect companion, Make sure you know how to care for it first, though. And to answer to question about bird books, you can get great ones at the library, ebay, amazon.com,

There are some great bird books out there with great photos.you can probably go to amazon.com and find some good ones or just google it. Someone else suggested a bird feeder..this sounds perfect, maybe a hummingbird feeder as well. I would also suggest maybe subscribing him to a bird magizine, such as "Birders World", great photos and articles about birds that he can enjoy all year round.
