Where do peacocks originate from how well do the live in Indiana
Peacocks were found in India its the national bird there. they are also found throughout the mid east region. Experts claim they are originally from china and the far east.
they do well in colder climates and eat a variety of bird food. These are highly adaptable birds. I fed one for 6 weeks till its owner found it. I gave it cheerios and bird food and actually brought it into my house. I live in NE U.S. and we have brutal winters. It did very well and brought some peacock babies into the world.

I'm not sure but I think they are eastern - India, perhaps?
They would do ok in the summer and warmer months but you would have to have a protected and heated area for the winter.
Peacocks are from Indian peninsula. They are present in India (in very large numbers) , Srilanka, Bengaladesh , Pakistan,(The three countries were one till 1947) Nepal etc. It is a huge bird .
They are known to inhabit India for generations and we have epics depicting them to be present very long ago.
I do not think it is in Indiana. It is in India.
Their are 2 spices of peacock which names are the Blue Peacock or Indian Peafowl which is a resident breeder in eastern Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. Its also the national bird of India; and the other is know as the Green Peafowl which are found today in Southeast Asia in eastern most northern India, Assam, mainland Myanmar, Tibet, Yunnan, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and on the island of Java in Indonesia. They are curiously absent from both Sumatra and Borneo.
