Which birds sing at night2007-11-24 17:17:47

I live in Montana and each night there is a bird that sits outside of my window and sings really nicely. Could it be a bluebird? I guess I thought only nightingales sing at night. BTW, does anyone know a website where I could hear a nightingale sing?

Nightingales are not found in N. America. They are found in Europe and Asia, and winter in Africa. Mockingbirds are notorious night singers...though most people do not think their song is very pretty. Could be a blubird...or pehaps a robin?

It could be a mockingbird. I had one outside my window that would sing at 3AM and drive me nuts.

If it's grey with a white tail, it's a mockingbird.

not sure but alot of bird do sing at noght when they are scared...

If you go outside and notice that there is another bird in the distance singing, usually using 3 notes. then it is just what I call a night bird.

I cant recall the actual name but there are several species that stay up at night to mate.

Nightingale or Owl. Sometimes right before dawn or at dusk you can hear morning doves.
