I think they like the sound of running water. We have a parakeet that starts chirping whenever we turn on the faucet in the kitchen.

If not, it's possible they just want a shower. Budgies don't like baths, but they do like standing under a drip and having a shower. They have no idea what peeing is, so it's likely they just think it's water and want to play in it.

If you like, you could try putting one near a dripping tap and seeing if they do anything with it, to test this theory. However, I would advise against peeing on them.

Please tell me that you don't keep your birds in the bathroom! lol. Parakeets chirp madly at whatever sound they enjoy hearing - whenever reruns of Andy Griffinth would come on, they would go nuts over the whistling theme song. Yours apparently is tickled pink of the idea of running water!

Might sound silly, but it sounds like they like the sound of splashing water. Have you tried turning on the faucet in the sink with a small dish under where the water would hit the sink? It makes the same nosie and your keets would problly enjoy splashing around in the sink.

LOL! Funny but easy to answer. Birds are hardwired to listen for the sound of water. Many parrots get excited when they hear the vacuum cleaner for that very same reason. It sounds like a waterfall. When you tinkle, they think it's a waterfall, and want to bath. You can move the cage, or maybe close the door. That should stop the Tinkle Freaks, LOL!!

You know, the two sounds are kind of alike. Both are high pitched, rapid, bell-like sounds. Hmm.

Ditto Cantrellpets. Most pet birds love the sound of waters splashing. The bird does not know whether the pet owner is urinating or not it just hears a trickling of water.
