Why do pigeons called the symbol of peace2007-11-24 17:27:29

As the london mayor Mr. Ken Livingstone called the pigeons 'rats with wings', the question assumes significance I suppose.

Answers:

well,its doves that are actually considered a symbol of peace. And pigeons are not rats with wings, they are def part of the bird family, we find them as an annoyance because we have sprung up so many cities that they have adapted and learned to live around these metropolis areas, but why should we find them annoying, I think its the other way around.

I think this is because in the Bible a pigeon brought a live twig to Noah as a symbol that the great flood, God's punishment on the world, was coming to an end.

However, isn't the dove the bird of peace?

They think the dove Noah sent was actualy a pure whit homming pigeon and he was the man who started having these birds as pets and such.

There NOT ''Rats with wings'' and what do you have againts rats anyway buddy! rats are very cute creatures that where put on this earth for a purpose.
