Why does my budgie keeps opening and closing his wings without flying
My budgie Buba just stands there opening and closing his wings, I have never seen him do this before in 5 years? I am wondering if he is just showing off. I just got a new budgie named Bandit, and his wings are clipped. Do you think Buba is just showing off saying look how nice my wings are? It is very funny to watch. Has anyone seen this before?
Answers:Yes, I have seen this before with my birds. You are exactly right that he is showing off. He is making himself appear bigger to the new bird, saying "if we ever get a female around here, she's mine." Also, are you sure that your new bird is male?? Sometimes we get fooled about thier sex, so Buba could be trying to court her! They also do this to stretch, but it's obvious when they're stretching.
i don't have birds, but I would guess that its a territorial thing and Buba is just showing off as you say
sure I've heard of it before though.
He is probably stretching and showing off :) Sounds like you have a free entertainer!!
maybe cuz he is scared of flying and is not sure about whether to give it a go or not??!!
Buba could be tired or is trying to tell u something.
if u leave ur hands at ur side, won't u need to stretch?
Absolutely, like the pPeacock showing off to the Peahen or anyother Peacocks..
