Why is the book to kill a mocking bird named to kill a mocking bird
Why is that book named that title.i don't get it?
Answers:atticus tells his daughter scout, that she can shoot any bird except a mockingbird because they do no harm - they only sing and make music for us. there are two "mockingbirds" in the story - Boo radley and Tom Robinson. They don't do any harm to anyone, but others harm them.
"It's a sin to kill a mockingbird" That is one of the famous lines from the book. If that doesn't explain it then you are hopeless.
Atticus is telling about what his father told him about having his first gun. That it's a sin to kill a mockingbird because all they do is sing and don't cause any trouble. Read the book or watch the movie and you will see how that fits in with the story.
In the book, Atticus tells Jem and Scout that they can shoot at as many pigeons as they like, but to never, ever kill a mockingbird. He states that mockingbirds make beautiful music, and never cause harm to anyone, and therefore we shouldn't harm them. This is a metaphor for two characters in the novel-Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. Both are persecuted based on something that they never did, but people harm them anyways. They are, in effect, 'mockingbirds'.
Hope that helps!

The phrase is explained in the text. Did you read it? Remember how Atticus tells Scout the story about how his parents told him never to kill a mockingbird? Go look up that section. It is explained there.
