do cockatoo bites cause infection2007-11-24 17:19:14Answers:
OK, I just got off the phone with two different parrot shop owners. One is my oldest sister has a shop and the other one is my mother and her shop and, I'm sure the answer is NO! what I did learn is people can not catch a disease or virus from a parrot or Cockatoo bite but a cockatoo can catch a virus from people and I don't mean from bitting the bird lol. Now, just for the record, the smallest wound we people can receive happens to be the most infectious and that is a puncher wound verses a laceration or an avulsion type wound so if you get bit by anything, you'll want to wash it real good and a little local antibacterial ointment would go a long way.Good luck to you
Not normally because they don't carry alot of syliva in their mouths like most other animals do such as cats and the syliva carries alot of bacteria in it.
I dont think so. Never heard of that happen but a cockatoo can bite to the bone, plenty blood. Bird saliva is not dangerous to us like cat saliva. Our saliva is dangerous to birds.
You stand the chance of infection any time your skin is broken
