First of all, and this is first hand from my vet, you don't want to feed your birds birdSEED. You are starving them. We found this out when we took our bird in for breathing problems. You need to feed them bird pellets. This will eliminate the bug problems in the seeds. If you are unsure, then call one of your local vets who specialize in birds. You are starving them to death with birdseed. Any of your regular pet stores has the pellets in the bird isle section.
new brand of bird seed, samething happened to me and they infested the WHOLE HOUSE! they build little house things on the ceiling andeat your food (sounds like a horrorstory :P but it happened) but the insects in the seed wouldnt harm your bird, it would probably benefit them (just not you)

LOL You don't! Keeping it in the freezer keeps them from hatching til you put it in the bird's dish. Otherwise you just have to put up with it.
You really need to get new seed..DIFFERENT seed. You should have 'no' bugs in it when you buy it. Where are you getting your birds food ? They shouldn't be selling it, if it's buggy. Get some fresh seed for your poor bird(s). it'll be much better for them !
Store seeds in freezer if at all possible. Live bugs die off, eggs won't hatch.
Keep you feeder clean wash it monthly or whenever you refill it, if your feeder lets rain water in you should purchase a new one or cover it somehow?
