feeding should be a mix of pellets and seed, only a small part of their diet, spinach, watercress, chickweed, dandelions, branches from fruit trees, (but not cherry) mung beans, snow peas, fresh corn on cob, Fruits, berries, apples, pears, grapes, cherries, bananas, pieces of coconut, insects. (small mealworms, aphids and white worms) with the mealworms, be sure to squash (ewwww) the heads b4 offering your bird, mealworms can burrow their way out of as birds stomach if not killed prior to feeding. Its gross i know, but when i reared a australian native myna bird, i had to do exactly that, it wasnt pleasant, but i didnt want the worms burrowing out from within.

For a treat once a week you can give (if u like) a small part of a vanilla slice (custard part) my lorikeets have a little of this once a fortnight maybe , and go nuts for it.

With good care, meaning attention and reasearching what's the best nutrition for him he can live up to 15 years maybe more. In the wild they live usually twice as long, probably because it's more natural 4 them and they know exactally what foods to eat and they're right there 4 them.
