give it some time. pick which word you like to teach him, then keep saying it over and over around him in about 3 to 4 weeks and he should be on a roll.

WARNING: whan you teach an animal a word, they will say it so much it will drive you kookoo.

All I know is the best bird for talking is a mina bird they can copy loads of words really well but you must spend time teaching them. Some parrots kind of talk too but not as good as a mina bird, dont know how much they are though. Cheep Cheep I hope!

Get a recorder, record the phrase you want to teach the bird. play it over and over and over near the bird. Eventually it will mimic what you recorded.

Hi there, my friends have parrotts and i think one of the best things is consistant repitition, pick something, even if its just a whistle that u always do the same, eventually they will pick it up. When u are in the room with the bird, just do your chosen repetition as often as u can, i have seen it work with mt friends birds, its so cool when they repeat what he says, and very rewarding.

Birds don't always pick up repetitive words. sometimes they just hear something that sounds interesting to them (like the beep of a microwave). So, try to make a word sound interesting with your voice. You can't MAKE a bird talk, some do and some don't. Some talk clearly and some sound garbled. But you should spend a decent amount of time with your bird. I believe that some birds don't start talking until they're 4-6 months old. And it depends a lot on what kind of bird you have. you didn't say.

What type of bird do you have? Most smaller birds (finches, budgies/parakeets, cockatiels) never learn to talk. Some larger birds do, and some speices (such as African Grays) do. Female birds are also less likely to learn to imitate sounds (speech or whistles) than males. Research online about your specific species of bird.
