First of all birds are not like dogs.you cannot send them out to stud. they mate for life so a one time fling would probably not work. They need years to develop their pair bonding and then if they agree breeding will occur.but not always. You wouldn't just mate with any old stranger who walked through your door (at least I hope not) so birds are the same.they can be very picky. I would let them play together, sure. But if you are serious about breeding I would take her to a breeder and let her pick out her own mate. See who she hits it off with.then go from there.it seems silly but my female who is a proven breeder.has turned down several mates. I even got her a new boy toy and she has no interest in him.
good luck.
Time wold be one thing. Just cause you put them in the cage together doesn't necessarily mean they will be prolific within hours. You would need a nestbox, and plenty of light. Birds natural mating season is in the spring, you might want to wait until then, or just make sure they have plenty of light, and that they're warm. Birds won't lay eggs when it's really hot or really cold, so that they help insure their babies survive! Good luck!
