Answers:You need to look at your budgie's "cere". The "cere" is the area above the beak and surrounding the nostrils.
With adult Parakeets if the cere is bright blue the Parakeet is a male and if the cere is brown the Parakeet is a female. When a female is in breeding condition her cere will be dark brown and may become rough and crusty.
The above applies for most adult Parakeets except some color varieties such as albinos, fallows, lutinos and recessive pieds.
With young Parakeets the ceres of both sexes are the same colour, a purplish shade, so it is difficult to decipher their sex until they have been through their first molt at three to four months of age. Only then will the adult color show.
To the experienced eye the sex of a young Parakeet may be differentiated. The cere on a young male Parakeet tends to be more notable than a young female's in that it is fuller and brighter. It takes on a pinkish shade whereas a female's will have a bluish shade.
Another tip is that a young female tends to be more aggressive and bites harder than a young male.
Usually the boys have blue beaks and the girls have purple (pr pinkish)
So I would say yours is a girl
Most male parakeets have nostrils that are blue and most female parakeets have nostrils that are purple. The last parakeet that I had, however, was a white male who had nostrils that were a pinkish-purple color. I think that my bird must have been an exception though.
Always 100% of the time unless they are albino, male Budgies have blue cere's and female Budgies have pink/tan/purplish/white colored cere's you have a female
Enjoy :o)
it's a female
If your little bird has bars over it's forehead, it is then under 4 months old. Sounds to me you have a female but later if it's nose (CERE) turns blue then you have a male. A light purple nose like that indicates a baby bird and you will just have to be patient with it to get older and grow into its sex colored nose.
