i just got a 1 year old femail cockatiel from a aviary. how shud i quratine and introduce them to each other. rite now i have put them in spereate cages next to each other . how long does it last?

are you sure you have a pair and not 2 females/males? did you have their sex checked? birds are funny animals. they either like each other or they don't. you may put them together and one might kill the other. be careful. you will lose your pet bird if they attach to each other.

i have quaker birds. out of 5 only two are attached. do you want some quakers?

I only have 1, so i cannot answer this question. Talk to a cockatiel breeder, they would be able to give you good advice..

Let them come out and play with each other, do they like to interact? If they do, soon they might like to stay with each other. Are they tame cockatiels? If you are able to leave the cages open, then the cockatiels might join each other in one cage when they are comfortable.

What you described is NOT quarantine and can be dangerous. The birds should be in different rooms for four weeks. Then you can do what you are doing now to get them to know each other. Let them out at the same time to interact. While they are out, thoroughly clean and rearrange one of the cages and put both birds in the one. Watch them for a couple of days to make sure they are compatible, if they aren't keep them in separate cages, but near enough that they can chatter to and see each other. By cleaning and rearranging the cage before putting them in it will get rid of territorial behavior.
