I have 3 of them! they are awesome birds and can learn very fast. I have 2 males and 1 female, the males sing and talk but the female does not. i would suggest nameing it"Baby" after my smarest male! goodluck!

I have 4 cockatiels. Their names are "Sniffles" because he makes a sniffling sound when he is happy, "Butch" because he had plucked his feathers from all around his neck, "Keeley".she was named by a friend, and "Louise", the person I got her from thought she was a he and named her "Lou", then she started laying eggs.

I also have a friend who has a Lutino Cockatiel that has been named "Sunny".

i name mine by how they act.

first one i named Moe cause she tends to fly into walls and other stuff.

second one i call Hawk cause he screeches like a hawk.

and third i call monkey cause he somewhat makes a monkey sound.

pet names are personal preference.

Common names for the yellow cockatiels are sunflower, sunshine, sunny. We named some of our cockatiels after treats. Cookie, Chip, Cracker.

Cracker could say his name and called me mommy. Spend lots of time with the cockatiel and it will bond with you. The males learn to talk pretty well, so have fun with it.
