i need help with my pet parrot, anyone2007-11-24 17:22:27

at night my bird talks while everyone is sleep and he's covered up. aren't those type of birds soppose to sleep when it gets dark? and when im not home he eats all the food that i leave for him and drinks all his water. i feel that he is not healthy because of this what should i do? and he doesn't really liike anyone in the family anymore. he always trys to bite everyone.

He's bored. Feed him some seeds/parrot food when you leave the house. When you come home, talk to him and let him out of his cage. When You put him back in, give him some veggies to munch on, or scrambled eggs, or a little bagel pizza. Hold him some more before bed.

Make this is new routine, and he'll realize that he gets play with when it is light, and when he gets covered up that's the time to socialize.

And please, give him a variety of foods and toys to help prevent boredom. Maybe even put a mirror on the side of his cage.

HE IS BORED

I don't know what sort of parrot you have, but for example, an African Grey has the intelligence of a three year old toddler, they need so much stimulation.

If you want to keep him/her tame, then you need to be spending at least 6 hours a day minimum playing and talking to him/her.
