what supplies do u need to start a simple 1 parakeet birdcage?

Answers:

A budgie food mix (ask what they are feeding the budgie when you get it),

several toys (change them often to keep you birdie happy),

cuttle bone for calcium,

food dish,

water dish for bathing,

water bottle for drinking,

several different perches of different sizes (so the birds feet don't get tired on one),

treats,

a birdie playpen (great if you plan on your bird spending a lot of time out of the cage),

of course a cage

a cage cover (you can get cheap cloth at walmart for a dollar or two a yard)

find a vet that will work with birds (just in case)

there are many extras you can get, have fun with your bird they are very loving and interesting pets to have.

Parakeet are family of parrots. They eat seeds like Sunflower seeds. They will also eat fruits, like papaya and banana. Also get a wide mouth cup for putting water so that it can drink. Some old newspaper for the droppings at the bottom of the cage. You may also want to get a calcium/minerial stone for it to chew.

Number one, you need a cage and the bigger the better, but make sure the bar spacing is 1/2 inch. Also, horizontal space is better than vertical space, so don't bother with the cages that are tall and tower like.
