i need to rephrase my question
sorry i wasn't clear enough. i found a newly hatched baby bird but we live in guam and there are no aspca or anything like that ,that would help me with it. and it fell from a 20 foot palm tree so i cant put it back. does anyone know how to care for the bird or what and how to feed it. thanks :0)
Answers:Please Please ignore the other two answers. I rehab wild birds. Never give them soaked bread.
First, is it injured? Check for blood on body or in the stool. Next, keep it in a warm place. Try not to handle it. Put it in a bowl on white paper towels so you can keep an eye on the stool. If you have pedialyte or gatorade or something like that, warm it and give it a couple of drops at a time every few minutes with an eye dropper or soaked Q-tip. Get up during the night to keep doing it.
Next, try to find out what it is. If there is someone on the island who deals with animals, please call them.
At this point, do not give it food of any kind. You need to make sure it has no internal injuries or food will kill it. If you haven't found anyone to help you by morning and it's still alive and has no blood in the stool, give it ensure plus in Strawberry or vanilla only. Make every effort to identify it. Every species eats differently.
Never give a bird milk. If you can't find anyone in the next couple of hours and have can email a picture to me, please do so at howiee@charter.net. or email me with a description including size, beak shape, color and anything else you can think of.
