Love birds can be alone as long as you spend quality time with them every day. Not just a few minutes, at least 30-45 minutes.

When lovebirds are alone in a cage, they bond with humans, when they have a lovebird buddy, they bond with the other bird and tend to shy away from contact with humans.

To have a lovebird by himself is not a problem, but having him in the main room is IF you tend to be in the room making noise (tv, radio, talking, etc.) and having lights on after night fall in the room as this disrupts the bird's sleep pattern which stresses the bird and I am sure you don't want that.

Yes, it's fine.

If you want to watch him have the time of his life, give him a palm frond. Your bird will rip it to shreds. Lovebirds are the only hookbills that love to tear up palm fronds.

He is fine to be in your main room, it shouldnt be any other way.

When you get a bird they need to be regarded as part of the family, if that is where you guys are at most of the time, then that is where he should be.

Be sure to furnish his cage with natural branches, greenary and good nutritious food, not just seed.
