my bird freaks out when i put my hand in the cage i need anwers please anwsers.
Answers:He's scared. It can be very hard to tame a fully grown bird. It takes a lot of patience. What kind of bird do you have and how old is it?
Go slow, down just put your hand in, give the bird time not to feel threatened. They normally go through a stage where they will bite you, and finally trust you
well ur bird is just afraid of you.
dont put ur hand in the cage rite away.
take sum food or a stick and try to coax ur bird outta the cage.
remeber , ur bird feels secure in its cage, and when u stick ur hand in the cage ur crossing that line.
u personaly either let the bird come outta the cage by itself, or use a stick and put it at the birds feet to let it climb on.
hope this helps
I used to have a cockatiel that freaked out whenever someone would mess with her cage. Even feeding her would scare her. What I did was started just letting her bite me when I put my hand in there. I would take her out and let fly around the house or walk around. They are very curious. Let it sit on your hand when it is out. It will take time but you'll have to get the bird to trust you. Good luck!
Let the bird get used to you, open the little gate and put your hand up to the door (not in cage), and see if he comes out, if you don't have any other animals (cats), you can leave the cage door open for awhile so he gets used to coming out on his own, and constantly talk to him and whistle so he knows your voice, he'll warm up, you will be surprised how smart birds are, and what they can learn, but you have to have patience it's not all going to happen overnight. Good Luck! And have Fun!
Baby steps. Open the door 2/3 times per day, standing there, for 5-10 minutes. After 2/3 weeks, put in hand near the door. Again, 2/3 times per day, 5-10 minutes. Be sure your hands are free of lotions, odors, and jewerly if you don't want any stones plucked out. Also, would be helpful to know the kind and age of bird and how long you have had the bird.
He's just scared. You need to talk to him very calmly before and during the time you put your hand into the cage. The more time you spend with him, the more comfortable he will get. If he is an adult bird, it will take longer for the bonding to take place. Try hand feeding him, but don't force him or try to catch him, it will only freak him out even more.
