i dont know what to do, am i supose to help my parakeet..i bind his legs .he has sprawl legs

What a sin :( That's so sad. I would hand-feed him, make sure his vent (bum) is free of bird feces and other stuff until you can take him to an avian vet. I know Avian vets are hard to come by, and if you can't get to one, at least give one a call and ask them for some professional advice. Since birds have a very high metabolism, they need to eat regularly. If your bird is having a hard time feeding himself, or you notice weight loss, give him lettuce (I've yet to see a keet turn down lettuce) Make sure you wash the lettuce first. Also, if there's little drops of water, keets just love to flitter about in the lettuce leaves enjoying the droplets of water. Also, add some vitamin supplement to his water. This will ensure he won't become malnourished. You can buy powder vitamin supplement in any petshop with bird supplies. Even Wal Mart has it. It's a good investment. Depending on the severity of your keet's deformity, I would take extra special care of him and make sure he's comfortable. Monitor his daily activities, how much he's eating (if he's eating at all on his own) and give him a variety of vegetables (EXCEPT AVOCADO! it's toxic) Keet's favorites are lettuce, cucumber, apples, read about it on the net for more ideas on "Safe" foods to give your feathered friend. is it very severe so that he is balancing on his stomach? they can usually get around using their wings, so don't clip the feathers. let him stay on the bottom of the cage and put out a tray of food and water. a friend of mine has a bird thats legs are severely distorted (named turtle) and they take him out to let him fly.

If it is being handfed still, of course you still need to feed him, but if he is on seed, he will be fine.offer millet spray to teach him to eat on his own if in between handfeeding and weaning. Nothing is different about him except his legs are not perfect.
