my parrot rosita i raised her from juss born from a little egg but now it seems like all that went to waste she has this perch rite but she bites me every time i try to grab her! and since on the phone i say shut up alot now my parrot is telling me to shut up! what do i do?

Answers:

Well, sometimes parrots get a little rebellious when they are adolescents. Is she still young? Often when you tough it out they settle down after awhile. When she bites simply ignore it (hard I know, because it hurts) or walk away without saying a word. Any reaction is reinforcement to a parrot, even screaming and swearing at them. The biting will take time to overcome, there is no quick fix for that, but don't put yourself in a position you know she will bite in, try to avoid bites and do not reinforce them.

I have an easy fix for the phone issue. Either talk on the phone in another part of the house. Or, while talking on the phone, look at your parrot. Your parrot is yelling at you because it wants your attention. If you simply look at her while talking on the phone she will think you are talking to her!

Don't grab her, teach her to step up. If her perch is high up lower it so it is below your eye level

Try lowering her perch so that she is well below your eye level- her head should not come up above your collar bones when she stands on her highest perch.
