parrots health, help plz (URGENT)2007-11-24 17:25:18

my green parrot (4.25 months old) has been showing signs of ailment, he stays quite and does not play when I take him out

( originally , he is a very talkative and a playful parrot ) . he has been behaving quiet queerlysince 2 or 3 days and does not even eats properly.

I have no 'proper' vetirinary hospital nearby, can anyone suggest any home made remedy or a proper cure or can u identify what is the problem with him? i am really worried!

Answers:

Really should take him to the vet, even if it's far away. Birds usually hide their symptoms when they're sick, so when they do show, it's not good.

Try giving him his favorite foods or seeds. Since he's not eating, go to the pet store first thing and buy some baby bird forumula, I'll have to look up the name. Here it is, this is what i used when my baby stopped eating and reverted back to wanting to be handfed.

Mix it according to directions, and start spoon feeding him. Put it on the spoon, have to kinda tilt it, and hopefully he'll eat it. He'll kinda pop his head up and down while eating it.

Then, get to the vet asap, preferably one that specializes in birds. Good luck!

if he is drinking and eating in moderation you have no problems.

do keep him in a warm place for a week and leave him quite but not ignoring him.if he appears fluffed up and sitting on two legs with his head in his wings he will not be well.this will always be the first sign.
