please HELP me2007-11-24 17:25:23

My macaw flew up in a tree about 35 to 45 feet up! Help I can鈥檛 get it down I need help! I thought I clipped her wing short enough i cut about 4 off.

I'm sorry for what happened. Often, when birds get out by accident, they're quite overwhelmed and will hang around your house for several days. So - what you need to do - is put your macaw's cage somewhere visible, such as in the middle of your yard, or beside your house - somewhere your macaw will see it easily - and tie the door of the cage open with some wire or string - and put some large pieces of food inside the cage, maybe apple, whatever she particularly likes to eat. Then, keep an eye out, and if she's still in the area, she might come down to her familar cage! If she does, wait and see if she hops inside. Birds usually like being inside their cages, it's where they feel comfortable and safe.

If you see her hanging around and she's not hopping into her cage, you can try catching her with a big net, or by throwing a large sheet or towel or coat over her, and then carefully grabbing her.

I've also read, in the worst case scenario, where you think you won't see her again - you can try spraying her with the hose, because this will stop her flying away. I'd be very wary of this though - it might shock her even more and stop her hanging around.
