Answers:Without knowing all the particulars I'm going to have to give you the works. I have birds and would be wrecked if I lost one so I know what you're going through. 1) clean the water dish every day (i have several extras I so I can use the dishwasher on the one I'm changing). 2) after a month or so a totally clean seed dish (oily seed gets gunky) 3) bath and blow-dry every week 4) clean the cage bottom every couple weeks. As you can tell I fear germs are the main cause of a sick bird. Have you got any new birds that may have brought something in. Caused jealousy ? You say your bird used to play so I doubt he's lonesome (that can cause physical illness, too). Drafts are fatal more that cold. Be sure he's covered at night. Beyond that are poisons (chocolate, apple seeds, perches made from poison branches or insecticide the main culprits we watch for). Does the bird show signs of diarrhea ? If so search the Internet for cause. Good luck.

I would have the bird tested for HIV within the next 48 hours.
might be because of the temperature in the house. she may be lonely. get her a friend.
You can buy antibiotics at the pet store for birds that are under stress. You should put her in a dark, quiet room and leave her alone. If need be, cover her cage with a sheet during the day for a few days. That is what the vet told us to do for our cockatiel, when she was sick. If your pet store doesn't have antibiotics, you should be able to find a vet that treats birds. They will usually sell you the antibiotics or tell you where to find them. Don't waste time, by the time a bird starts putting her head down and sleeping a lot, it is pretty sick.
have you checked to see if she is egg bound.sometimes they get eggs stuck in the egg duct.sick birds hide their sickness for a long time for fear of being put out of the flock.so she may have been sick longer than you think.but turn her over and feel right around her vent and belly see if ya can feel a hard object if ya do its an egg that is stuck, and you should get her to the vet
Ok..I would say get her to an Avian Vet. You can never be Too careful when it comes to a bird. A few helpful hints though to help you.
