im going to be getting a bird as soon as i figure out which one i want. i am considering ONLY a parakeet (budgie) or a cockatiel. i want a bird that will sit on my shoulder or on his perch or on my desk. could sumbody plz help me??

What do you want to know? Budgies are cute, can be taught to talk, very amusing, and less expensive. Do your budgie a favor and get it a BIG cage, one where it can fly back and forth from one perch to another.

An advantage of cockatiels is that you can pay a little extra and get a hand-fed one. Hand-fed birds associate the human hand with something good: food, nuturing, and so are already tamed or feel positively towards humans. But with budgies, you do not have this option.

If you choose cockatiel and have the choice of paying more for a hand fed one, do it!

any bird will do that if it is trained to do so. if you want results faster get a hand raised bird from a breeder not a pet store. some smaller pet stores have hand raised birds. definitly not chain stores or mall stores.

Why not go for a hand reared cockatiel? They are so tame and loving and do not bite. They can be easily taught to talk and will be wonderful companion.

Budgies are great. Get a very young one,under 4 months,then you can train it! He/she will delight you!

Lineolated parakeets are better than Budgies or Cockatiels. They are quiet, cute, sweet, and like to cuddle! They cost more, but they are a better pet over all. They are about the size of a Budgie, but they have these big sweet eyes, and the head is shaped different.
