what is the proper way to set up a budgie cage from bottom to top
There's no proper way as long as it's safe but I can give you some ideas we use in our birds' cages:
Use lots of textures of perches to keep the foot muscles and skin toned and healthy. Keep the toys and perches away from the food and water, and since the cage is your bird's neighborhood, make lots of "places" to visit on all different levels: in one corner near the top (to keep droppings out of it) you can clip-mount a shallow dish of water beside a manzita root perch to make a bath station that you rinse and freshen every day.
Use a concrete perch to trim his nails and beak beside some more toys in the middle, and place foot toys (big acrylic shapes or whiffle balls) in another clip-mount dish. You can put rings and sliding toys on the horizontal perch between his food. You can put a coiled vertical rope perch in one corner for your bird to be an acrobat on.
You have lots of options. The bigger the cage -- with proper bar spacing -- the happier the bird. One of the nice things about budgies is that it's affordable to do that. Offer treat bars, cuttle bone and calcium in rotation too.
Lining it in paper is standard. There are also pads of liners you can buy from Foster and Smith and peel off every day like pages off of a memo pad. Make sure the cage floor has a grate or your budgie will walk in his droppings often. Most do. If one that you're looking at doesn't, it's a cheap cage and it probably has high lead content: lots of cheap cage manufacturers use as much as they legally can because it's so inexpensive. In fact, when you hang your bird's toys, make sure you use stainless steel quik links. Cheap quik links often contain lead too.
well u get gravel paper or sawdust and put it on the bottom of the cage. thecage should come with roosts and a bowl for water and food. if it hasn't got a swing get one to hang from the top of the cage. get a mirror so he has someone to talk to. u need a calcium bone so he can keep his beak sharp. maybe some treats that hang from the side of the cage and perhaps a ball with a bell in it to roll around on the floor. be very quiet and reach in very slowly if u decide to try and take him out of the cage. sudden movements and jerky movements can ruin him forever for being a fun pet. even if he bites u try not to startlehim.give him time to get to know u and the 2 of u can have lots of years of fun together. get a book on raising parakeets possibly before u buy him so u will know what to expect before u get him. good luck oh and until u become friends do not let him fly free because he may never go back in the cage. heis wild until he learns to trust u.
there is not an exact proper guideline of where everything should go.but there are a few basics.
