what should i feed a baby bird
First what type of bird will determine what to feed.
Parrakeets are fed by the parents reguritated food.
Sparrows are fed live insects by thier parents, Seagulls regurgitate fish for their chicks and hawks feed thier babies meat. Poultry are self sufficient from birth as are ducklings. So it all depoends what baby bird you mean.,
Call your local St. Francis society. They can help you out.

regurgitated insects,
I think you're supposed to feed them some kind of baby food mixture. You need to use a syringe, which can be tricky. Call a local pet store, preferably one specializing in birds. They can probably help you. Or you can do a search on Google or Yahoo Search.
I believe sparrows need to be fed a mixture of insects and fruit every 30 to 40 minutes. They eat mainly insects as babies and you can get most of their food from a pet store in the form of baby crickets and boxed insectivore food. Crickets are important in that they will teach the young chick to hunt for their own food :-) . You could probably feed earthworms and chopped up meal worms. I find meal worms disgusting but they're incredibly high in protein.
Good luck!
You can get baby bird formula from the pet store. But, if you are inexperienced with feeding a baby bird, you should take it to the vet. You can accidentally make the bird aspirate food or burn the crop if done incorrectly.
Feed him worms!
