what to do with the pigeons egg in the nest2007-11-24 17:26:37
there is a nest outside on my windowsill, and just then when i went put something back on the inside of the windowsill, and the pigeon flew away, and i noticed there is an egg in the nest, its been 30min since it flew away.
what should i do now, will it fly back to the nest? or abandoned its?
Answers:it will come back. SO DONT MESS WITH IT..
make an ommelette
I had 400 pigeons at one time
Trust me on this one.the pigeon did not abandon her nest.
That egg may be infertile because she may not return tonight, but tomorrow she will be back, laying the next in the series.
Don't open the window anymore. Let her nest.
Good luck.
DON'T FRY THEM
Just leave the nest alone and let nature take it's course. : )
dont touch it at all, best stay away till she comes back.
if you have already touched it then she proberly wont sit on it again.
sometimes when birds away from their nest and don't return for quite sometime have abandoned. some birds will buld several nests before setteling for the right spot etc. if the bird did not return after a couple of hours, the egg and its embro is probably a gonner. or, you could keep the egg warm and turn it every so often like they do in a incubator. other than that there isn't much you can do. let nature take its course
leave it there and the mom should come back. the mom is probably out hunting.. 30 minutes isn't that long.
as long as you stay near the nest, the pigeon will not come back. please close the window and move away. mom knows how to take care of kid without you interfering.
Throw it away pigeons are not at all maternal they won't return back to the egg but they will nest again.
Leave it alone. The pigeon will be back. They usually lay two eggs. Try not to disturb it from now on. It will be a real treat for you to watch as they hatch in a couple of weeks. I believe it takes 17-19 days to incubate. The babies are neat to watch as they grow. It doesn't take long for them to get to adult size. Enjoy
She should come back, if she doesn't it's because the egg is infertile. Have you seen the male anywhere? Either way, leave the nest well alone, or she definately won't come back. Even if it is infertile, she may still come back to lay her second egg. I hope she comes back. By the way - pigeons don't 'hunt', they aren't predatory animals!!
I am also having pigeons in my home surely it will back to its nest
it should come back..it may not be coming back because you keep checking on it. Do you have blinds or curtains you can close so it cannot see you so it will feel more comfortable to come back to it. If she just laid this egg, she will probably lay another tomorrow, and then start incubating. Some birds will not incubate until ALL the eggs are laid while others may incubate right away.
leave well alone
