what tree branches are not poisonous for a nanday conya parrot2007-11-24 17:26:38

I want to put tree branches in the parrots cage, but as they peel the wood i do not want to use one that is toxic for it. any ideas what is safe?.

Answers:

fruit tree and willow twigs, as well as thick branches

If using natural branches, be sure they have not been sprayed with insecticides. Elder, willow, eucalyptus, and small fruit tree branches have been recommended.

Here is a safe wood list.just make sure you clean it good and it's best to bake it on low for a couple of hours to help disinfect and kill any bugs or eggs left behind

I always have used branches from any tree where the fruit aren't poisonous to humans, ie. apple, pear etc.

I assume you mean Conure. I also assume that since you didn't know how it was spelled that you don't have any books on conure care. If you did, they would tell you what branches are safe also.

Not all branches are safe and even safe branches will kill it if you get them from near a busy road or somewhere that uses chemical weed or pest killer sprays.

However, you can safely use willow, ash, apple,pear. Not NOT use cherry, plum,peach, oak, pine.
