i have a Senegal parrot,he is the cutest !! BUT he gets very loud ,es specially if he wants attention. you need to watch what you say. my parrot says a lot of things! and some stuff he says,is just so funny to me.get a parrot that was hand fed!! this way you can hold the bird right away.Senegal parrots are mostly green.their head is gray and their eyes are yellow.

If you have never had a bird before-start with a parakeet. You can teach them to talk and see if birds are for you. The larger parrots require a lot of attention and if not handle correctly can be noisy and destructive-they are not for beginners. In general however, African greys tend to be good talkers. Research carefully before getting any pet.

The African Grey parrot is known to be one of the best speaking. Their intellegence has been compared to a 5 year old child. Although they make great pets, they can tend to be neurotic and can cause self mutilation (plucking of it's own feathers) if it's care and mental well being isn't properly being met. Before going out and buying one, I would suggest that anyone do thorough research to make sure that this is the best pet for them.

The African Grey has a wonderful ability to mimic what they hear. My mother has one and it sounds just like my dad who passed away in '98. They are known for this. I think the one draw back of the bird is that you do have to try to keep it social & friendly as it gets older.
