Someone mentioned this above, and I can't stress this enough, Greys are very emotionally fragile, they're very smart, and a lot of fun, but they are notorious for being feather chewers, and pluckers, and if they are even the slightest bit stressed they will pluck themselves bald!! Its super sad anotehr friend of mine, her Grey used to get covered with a Red blanket all day to keep her quiet, so now this poor baby chews out its own red tail feathers because it hates the color red! They don't forget anything!

You need to do your research and not just on PetQnA.com , you need to look into how much these birds cost to keep, let alone buy, for instance, lets say you get yourself a baby Grey:

The bird alone: $800-1000

Descent sized cage:$500+/-

First month set up: Toys:$100, Pellets:$65, Perches:$75, Seed:$25, Vitamins etc: $25, Fresh produce that is needed daily:$100

This is just figures, but this is assuming that you are planning on taking good care of your bird, and by no means am I exaggerating on the price, for none of this is to my benefit, I'm trying to make sure that someone who takes a bird knows what they're doing! I researched birds for about a year before I bought myself a tiny lovebird! Questions you need to ask yourself are do I have room for a 4'X5" cage, or for one half that size? Do you live somewhere where neighbors(ie apartment) will care if you have a screaming bird? Do you have kids or pets, both can easily stress out birds and is VERY common. Do you have time to play with a bird the size of a Grey for at least 2 hours a day JUST to MAINTAIN it's tameness, not including making it a talker, they don't learn anything unless you spend time with them, I have a small Sun Conure, and a Senegal, and they both get around 2 hours a day of my time. You need to be able to read with your bird, play with them, eat with them, they are JUST LIKE KIDS! They need to have fresh water and fruits and veggies daily, otherwise if you just give them seed everyday they can die from fatty liver disease 20 years or so earlier than they would if you fed them a healthy diet!
