whats the best kind of talking parrots to buy as pets
I am not a pro, but it saddens me that people buy birds simply for the posterity and the fact that they think its "cool" that their bird talks. The only problem is they buy said bird, and most birds don't even start talking until they're AT LEAST a year old sometimes later, and even then its a word or two. These people don't get the "results" they wanted, see how fast the costs are adding up for this pet, and decide that its not worth it. They are only as talkative, playful, tame, as you make them. These birds often end up getting rehomed several times until someone who knows about birds finally gets ahold of one, and by then they're so stressed from having 5 different homes in a 3 year time period that they pluck themselves bald, scream, and have poor eating habits and aren't very tame sometimes when we get ahold of them!
I'm sorry to rant so much, but these are all very important things to take into consideration before buying a bird. I'm not an animal activist or anything like that, but you have to keep in mind that these animals will outlive any dog or cat by 20-30 years or more! They are an investment, a life partner, and a HUGE commitment! As I always say start small, you can always work your way up the "bird" ladder, but remember, if you tend a garden it grows, if you don't you will ALWAYS get weeds! Good luck!
I have to agree with a few answers I have aready read here.
First do your homework. You can't just take our word of rit every bird is different. Different birds in the dame breed are even different. I also think that you should start with a smaller bird.
I have had my first bird for a year now. I got him from a friend. They had to get rid on him because he was too noisy. They have other birds and 4 (I think) dogs and a cat (or 2) maybe. and a young child. their house was very noisy. we took him in and he is not as noisy at our house. He is a Sun Conure. they are sometimes referred to as screechers. I understand that now.
