why is my parrot eating his own poo
At night my parrot has taken to roosting on bottom of cage. a couple of times i have seen him/her eating its poo. could there be somethin lacking in his/her diet?
Answers:Poor diet, and your pet is setting him/her self up for a parasitic/bacterial nightmare. Your pet needs additional vitamins, lotsa love, and now maybe antibiotics. Your Vet may discuss a 10 day treatment plan with you. If you are finding him on the bottom of his cage often. That is a sure sign of illness. Also watch for a lot of tail bobbing while perched ( trouble counter balancing) There is usually very little time before your birds illness becomes out of control and you may loose him/her. Please see a vet. Parrots by nature make it very difficult to realize illness by looking. they are very good at hiding it right up to the last minute. In the wild the sick animal becomes prey the parrot masks illness to maintain survival. Again, please see a vet.
Not sure if that can be dangerous but as k a vet !
No, he's just trying to make Polyfiller
That would tell me the parrot has something lacking from it's diet, that something being poo.
feed him and he probably wont
give him some nice seeds
Maybe because he doesn't like the food you've been feeding him. Or, because he's just a bit kinky like that! I'd try him with some different food if I was you and see how he goes from there
He/she may be lacking in vitamins would ask your vet just to make sure
hes hungry.
thats just what birds do
Parrots usually only do this when lacking good bacteria in their body. So they turn to their poo for bacteria. Get some plain yogurt and give him about a half a teaspoon of it and it should stop if that is the problem. The yogurt has the bacteria they need but don't give too much, just a little will do the trick.
Its vitamins. Disgusting
