2 cats, 3 months together, still dont play together
have 2 cats, both female, 6 months and 9+ months. have had them together for 3 months total now, and theyre tolerant of each other and have been this whole time, but they still wont play together. its very frustrating because they both are a lot of work (in terms of playtime) and so i have to play w/ both of them separately, so it actually doubles my playtime. i got a second cat so they would play together, so that i wouldnt have to spend so much of my day with them and they would have each other, yet they just really avoid each other. also, the older one is not only bigger by age, but is also a bigger breed, so there is a size difference between them. so when they do play, its usually the older one kinda smackin around the younger one, so the younger one just usually ends up running away, which probably doesn't help them in becoming better friends lol. anyways, lookin for tips on how to get them playing with each other so they arent so dependent on me. thanks.
Answers:maybe instead of having any of them sleep with you have a designated spot for both of them to sleep...so they won't be dependent on you. put them with a cat bed or someing ina certain room with their cat box, food, water, toys, ect and close your door! have them sleep together :)
i have 3 cats, 2 male and 1 female, both males chase the female. and both males fight, alot sometimes. but, they are just playing. i would suggest to leave the cats alone, and dont play with them, alot. maybe they are dependent on you too much to play with. i dont play with my cats all the time, and they play together. yes they fight, but they are having fun. females usually like to stay alone anyway. my female is always off by herself. get a male, maybe that will help also. best of luck!
This is a really interesting question. Sometimes cats don't like each other they just tolerate each other. Its nothing you can really control. It is unusual that cats that are introduced as kittens don't play together especially since kittens are extremely active. Which cat came first? The older one or the younger one? I tried introducing an older cat to my 9 week old kitten and it was disastrous. I had to give the older cat away as i didn't have time to introduce them properly cos i work during the day. I am really interested in this question as i would like to try get my kitten a playmate but want to know if i should rather try introducing a younger kitten to him. So would really like to know which cat of yours came first?
I sort of had the same situation. My male Persian cat was over two years and I bought him a female Persian-Himalayan female kitten (she was three months old.) It was hard, but manageable.
