My little cat problemPlease help me2007-11-25 12:23:43

Today my cat ran away. She wont come back. I have found her, but she doesn't want to come home with me. She seems to be spooked by neighbour dogs. She even looks agresive. She is about 5 weeks old,so she isn't really big,but is not a citten. I have tried to approach slowly with food, but id doesn't work. She runs away, and meows at me with a terrified look. Please help me get her home, this kitty is very dear to me.

A 5-week-old cat IS a kitten and should still be with it's mom for at least a few more weeks. What was your poor kitten doing outside? I'm hoping that she just slipped out the door or something and that she doesn't live outside.

You may want to borrow a humane trap or a dog crate from your local animal control or something. Put some really smelly canned food in there. Back away from it and see if she'll come into it eventually.

snik up on her

sounds like she scared. Just leave her alone for now. Leave some food by your front door. When she calms herself down, she will come home. Cats know where they live. She won't wonder off very far. Just give her time to relax. Quit trying to pull her out and grab a hold of her. She will come out in her own time. Trust me.
I had a dog who acted like this. Turned out to be distemper.

Had to be put to sleep. Got more and more aggressive and started biting us. Distemper is contagious to other animals. Consider it could be a disease. Consider using a trap to catch her. You can often rent them from local humane society or animal shelter or buy one from petsmart.

give her a day to fine out where she is, sit food out for her thats a new place to her.
borrow a humane cat trap from the local shelter or humane society and set it with some truly tempting cat food. OR you can call them (animal rescue) be willing to rescue the kitten for you. That is what I would do. And do it ASAP BEFORE a dog gets to the poor kitten! Then, keep the kitten indoors - do not allow it to go out again - not until its full grown and knows how to fnd for itself. Even then, allow it out only under your supervision since there are dogs in your neighborhood.
5 weeks is a kitten, and 5 weeks is way too young for that cat to be seperated from it's mother. It has not learnt all the social skills it needs from it's mother at this early age, which is why it is scared and insecure. Get some friends to help you catch her, and then do not let her out til she is much older and more confident. 5 weeks is tiny, the poor thing is still a baby.
it happened to me once, you need to trap your cat, after I'd catch my cat, i put her inside the laundry basket for a week's and when she's already familiar w/ me then i slowly let her free from the laundry basket, but you need to feed her and clean everyday so she will get close to you, i even talk to my cat that time, and now she got a two babies, try it, there's no harm in trying. trap her with a net or a towel but you need someones help for you to catch your cat easily.
keep her at home for a while so she get use to stay with you then teach her a routine like stay out in the morning o in the afternoon and then call her for lunch or dinner and she will be back.
