Ok there will be times when my cats eat all their food b4 I get home from work

and I notice that they start puking up clear liquid.. like the water they have been drinking. When I feed them. they stop pukeing. All 3 of my cats do this. Why do they do this? Anyone know what I am talking about?

Vomiting is one of the ways in which the stomach rids itself of irritants and can be due to a host of reasons:

overeating

hair balls

food allergies

inability to digest certain foods

bile, digestive enzymes,etc.

Inflammatory bowel disease

motion sickness

sensitivity to a medication or drug

decreased intestinal mobility

Obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract by a swallowed piece of string or other foreign body

parasitic infestation in organs such as the kidney, liver, and pancreas.

By itself, occasional vomiting is nothing to be concerned about if your cat is eating well and is active and alert. Most healthy cats will, on occasion, vomit whole or partially digested food, hairballs, or a foamy, clear liquid.

Continuous, persistent vomiting however requires immediate veterinary attention

Vomiting for several days also calls for a trip to your veterinarian for evaluation. Chronic Vomiting is vomiting that lasts longer than one week duration. Excessive or chronic vomiting can be indicative of a serious underlying condition that requires treatment. Always seek veterinary care if a cat vomits for a period longer than one day or appears ill because dehydration can occur. Chronic vomiting cases may require advanced testing procedures to diagnose the specific cause. Acute Vomiting is less than one week in duration. If the vomiting is acute, extensive diagnostic testing is not always warranted.
