Our cat has peed in the heat vent that is located on our floor How do we get the smell out2007-11-25 12:24:54

Because of the cat peeing in our hear vent, everytime we turn on the heat, we get the smell of cat piss. We need a way to get the smell out.

Answers:

Spray "Urinegone" in there. At Petco, etc.

sometimes a box of baking soda sat in the vent will absorb the odor or cut a lemon in half and put it in the vent, won't fix the problem, but might cover it up. also you might want to consider getting rid of the cat

Buy a good pet stain and odor nutrilizer and spray it down your vent..make sure you can live with the smell of the product before you buy it.some smell better than others.It make take a few times to completely get rid of the smell ! I hope you love the cat !!

Get a spray bottle and fill with white vinegar. Spray down in the vent, coat the area good. You will smell vinegar for a few days but the vinegar will neutralize the enzymes in the urine that make it smell. Good Luck!!

you may also want to try something to keep the cat away from the vent, like a spray.

Sprinkle alittle bit of banking soda in the vent. With the heat off mind you. And add a couple of moth balls. The backing soda will absorb most of the pee and the moth balls with cover the smell until nature does the rest.
