PLEASE HELP How do you treat a cat bite2007-11-25 12:25:04

Long story short, my friend and I were bathing my two cats, because they'd gotten into my little sisters fingerpaining and were messy. I ended up getting bitten on my leg and on my arm, and my friend got bitten on the hand. All three times they broke the skin. The wounds have stopped bleeding now, but should I be worried? How should I go about treating it?

I would just put some antibiotic cream on the bite..wouldn't worry about it. I have owned cats all my life.you'll be fine.

Cat scratch fever is real it will go into a gland swell and a high fever will last for days should go to a Dr. to get checked it can kill you.

Depends on how deep the bite went. Cats' teeth are full of bacteria, so if the bite was deep, it would be advisable to make sure your tetanus booster is up to date.

Use a triple antibiotic cream. Sold over the counter. Not expensive. Watch the wounds. If any kind of infection is noted or a rise in body temperature, seek medical attention. Two problems that can arise. Cat scratch fever and toxicplasmosis. Not common, so don't worry. Just watch wounds. Good Luck.

Go to a doctor. Don't put peroxide or creams on puncture wounds as that can cause additional problems. They will give you a tetanus shot and antibiotics.

u should go get a tetnaus shot. a cats bite is very hurtful and u may b in a lot of pain before morning comes. the only thing u can put on it is hydrogen peroxide to clean and an anti bacterial ointment, but u really should go get a tetnaus shot, if u haven't had one in the last 5 yrs or so.

I have been bitten and scratched many times by many cats.I'm alive and well (a few scars here and there but oh well). Just wash the wounds, keep them clean and if you see any redness, swelling, hotness (signs of infection) then go to the doctor.

Go to the hospital ASAP. From personal experience I learned that a cats saliva is very bad stuff.
