Long and skinny.probably a round worm (maybe tapeworm, but they usually break into segments and are therefore short). First, you need to find out what it is so you can get the best womer. Over the counter wormers usually don't work, so you'll need to get a prescription dewormer from your vet.

You need to get your cat to the vet and let them run a fecal to tell you what parasite it is. The best general dewormer I've worked w/is a pill called Drontal, it gets hookworms, roundworms, whipworms and tapeworms. You give one pill (or 1/2, 1/4 ) depending on your cat's weight and re-deworm in 2-3 weeks.

Also, Panacur liquid is good, it gets hooks, whips and roundworms, but must be given more often and may not be as effective since owners often find it hard getting all the medicine in their pet's' mouth.

If it's a tapeworm, then you can deworm w/a pill called Cestex. But, if your cat eats a flea infested w/a tapeworm larvae then your cat will be re-infested. So, if you're having a problem w/tapes, flea control like Advantage is your best bet.

Regardless of which you choose, your best bet is having a fecal run on your cat. This is practically the only way to rule out coccidia which is a protozoa that only appears on the fecal test, and general dewormers can't get rid of. If your cat has this too, which a lot of kittens (in my experience) have, then you have to use oral Albon in addition to a general dewormer.

Depends on what kind of worm you've got. It sounds like tapeworm but to be sure, you should take one of the worms to your Vet with a sample of your cat's poo. Your cat can have more than one type of worm and you wouldn't know it, and different wormers take care of different worms. It's best to leave it to the Veterinarian, or you run the risk of overdosing your pet, or giving it the wrong meds.

well you're throwing me off with the maggot discription(the longer skinnier part).first off if these worms only appear in the stool then try some d-worm sold at farm stores under "piperazine" but,if these worms are the worms that sometimes appear on the cats rear and look more like rice you'll want "prazouantel".

Maggot looking things wriggling round in the stools is most likely a tape worm, not the whole worm but a body segment with eggs. The head and main body don't evacuate unless treated. Very difficult to safely treat a cat without prescription meds. See the vet. Usual source of infection is swallowing fleas. could also be uncooked meat ( eating rodents that they catch on their own is typical). You may not see the segments for a long time but it doesn't mean they aren't there. If it is a type of round worm, piperazine or pyrantel pamoate should help and be safe. Different worms, different wormers, until you have a positive ID, you will be wasting your money and risking your cat.
