Rescued a Kitten
I rescued a kitten. He's about 4-5 weeks old, tiny, cute, follows me around everywhere, and meows when I am not holding him. He seems healthy but I just rescued him last night about at about 5pm. I'v bought him Iams soft canned kitten food and also some mothers replacement milk and he still hasn't went poop. He has peed abunch in the litter box but nothing from the other. What should I do? His belly is very round and rather hard. Thanks
Answers:The mother cat normally licks a kitten's "rear end" to encourage bowel movements. You can simulate that by gently rubbing his rear with a warm, wet dish cloth. Other than that, I think you're doing a great job, especially thinking of using the replacement milk (most people think regular milk is ok, and it isn't).
I would call the vet. You dont have to make an apointment, just call and ask.
Maby hes a pregent kitten?? or maby hes constipated?? Call the vet!
ive had this problem before.get a rag and put warm water on it and rub his genitals for a few minutes.he should poop easily since he hasnt since you've had him. good luck!
I think the belly thing means he has worms..
i think u should take him to a vet just to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with the cute thing! and while u r there, get him some papers so u can be assured that he is yours and a check up should do. i hope he is alright!
My daughter rescued a three week old kitten and I remember we had to massage the area where he poops to make him go because that is what the mother cat does. Now the cat is healthy and he is about 4 months old now. What I would suggest is looking up kittens on the internet to find out how to care for them thats what we did. Good luck kittens are a lot of fun.
amcol is right, very young kittens have their feces stimulated by the mother cat's licking their genitals so you will probably have to help for a week or two until nature kicks in (sorry to gross anyone out but this is standard for 1-5 wks).
