Seriously, are there any cat owners out there who have a CLUE how to care for a cat
FELINE CARE
One of the greatest attributes of a cat is the fact that it is so easy to care for. Cats are not demanding pets to keep - they do, however, need adequate feeding, regular grooming and proper veterinary care throughout their lives.
ust like you prepare for the arrival of a new baby, you must prepare for the arrival of your new cat. You must have a litter box, food and water dishes, a bed, a carrier and a comb or brush for grooming. You may also want to purchase a few cat toys - these are important when bonding with your cat. If you have decided that your cat will be an "outdoor" cat, then it is important to have an elastic collar and a name tag. Believe it or not, you must train your cat from an early age to wear its collar. And even with this early training, your cat will still try its best to get the collar off! It is best to purchase a collar with elastic so that your cat can easily slip out of it it it gets caught. Your cat's name tag should include your cat's name and your home address and telephone number. There is now a method of inserting an identity microchip under the skin of your cat's neck. If your cat should get lost, this is an easy method of tracking it down.
A well-fed cat is active and alert with bright yees and a glossy coat. Nutrition plays a key role here. Your cat should be fed two or three small meals a day. Kittens, of course, require extra feeding. It is also important to try to feed your cat at the same time each day and in the same place to establish a routine. A fresh bowl of water and dry cat food will do the job. You can also check with your vet to see if he or she has any specific dietary needs that you should follow for your furry friend. And just like humans, cats love treats too! Their favorite fresh food treats are fish and chicken and they can have this 2-3 times a week. Be sure to remove all small bones if necessary. It is also important to keep an eye on your cat's weight. An average adult cat should weigh between 9 to 11 pounds. Male cats will weigh in slightly heavier. Like human, cats that are overweight suffer from a breadth of health problems. So wake up to the truth..Cats are like people.treat them well, nurture and take care of them. TAKE THEM TO THE VET AND STAY CURRENT ON ALL VACCINATIONS!
