Should I get a new couch
We just renovated our basement family room. We removed the panelling, painted the walls, installed expensive laminate flooring, new light fixtures, currently adding baseboard, window/door trim. The problem is that the couch that is supposed to go in that room has been taken over by my cat, she has been peeing on it. I washed the cushions in the bathtub with laundry detergent, bleach, and water, but I think it will take forever to dry, and I think it still smells like urine. I also sprayed it with Nature's Miracle and Febreeze. If the cushions ever dry, should I keep the couch? Or buy a new one? The couch is a sofabed, in great condition.
Answers:I would contact the SPCA and see if they can check it for a urinary tract infection. It could be a medical problem. As for the couch, I would replace it and keep the cat out of your new family room. Good luck.
yea
man that smell is hard to get out, with all the work your doing it might be worth it in invest in the sofa too.
If it doesn't smell any more and it drys then keep it. But go to a pet store and buy a spry that will deter the cat from peeing on it again. I had the same problem with my cat and the sprays work, the only draw back is that you have to keep spraying it at least once a week. Even if you get a new couch the cat will pee on it unless you teach it that your couch is not a litter box. ( This is the exact reason why I don't have cats any more)
