What are these scabs on my cat2007-11-25 12:26:34

I have had my cat for nine years. Recently he has gotten scabs from scratching his back and neck. He doesn't have fleas and he is inside only, any thoughts on what is causing these scabs?

Have you done anything differently in the last few months - change his type of food, change something else that could cause an allergic reaction? You can buy it special dry skin shampoo for it.

go to the vet the vet will give you medicine to cure the scab, instead of fleas it might be something worse, lice. i recommend you bring your cat to the vet, they know what is best for animals. i hope that this information helps! Good Luck.

Perhaps if you get some cortisone spray it will help him.

Are you sure he doesn't have fleas? Did you flea comb him? If not, do that and if you find flea dirt, the cat has fleas. Just one flea can cause an allergy for some cats.

Short of that, visit your vet to get a proper diagnosis.

Sounds like hot spots, which can be very painful, my dogs get them. Go to a vet ASAP.

Give the guy a bath in suds , if you have to put him inside a pillow slip with his head out and dip him slowly in an anti beastie solution , sorry pal , I'm used to wrestling my 8 stone German Shep into washing up liquid , hurt his skin my * , the dirt flew off him including any of his friends i never met hahahahah then give him a rinse in medicated shampoo and be prepared for no love from them for a week or 2 hahahaha

It sounds like fleas. They usually scab up around the neck and tail area. Just to make sure I would treat with Frontline or other flea products from your vet. They can get infected.
