What breed is my cat2007-11-25 12:26:37

I'm a proud owner of a long-haired female calico cat. To my understanding, a calico is NOT a breed, but a color pattern (usually orange, black and white) found on numerous breeds of cats. It is NOT a breed by itself.

The next time my friends asks me what breed is my cat, What should I tell them?

Any suggesrions or response will be greatly appreciated.

For example when I describe what "breed" mine are, its "American Short hairs". This is a breed description - "American Short hair" or "American long haired - calico," like a Persian. You are correct, most folks don't understand that calico is a color description like Seal point or Blue point.
