Pets shouldnt stink, it may have an ear or skin infection. Look in it's ears and see if you see any black or white build up, check under it's belly to see if the skin is red/bumpy. If it's an un-neutered male that may be the problem too.

Pet store groomers can bathe your cat.

Put it in the washing machine. Don't forget the fabric softner so it comes out all fluffy.

It depends on what kind of smell it is, my cat once in awhile will express her anal sacs, it sounds gross but she does it when she get upset. I don't know why, but believe me if it was that smell u would know it, it is the worse smell ever, check the ears, is he fixed? if its smells by the butt then it may be. his sacs.

PetSmart offers grooming services. Let them get cut to ribbons! At least then SmellyCat won't sh!t in your shoe for giving him the water torture.
