What can you do for a kitten that was taken from its mother too soon and needs to still nurse *4 mon2007-11-25 12:27:21

our kitten was taken from his mom too early and he tries to suck on our hands.. fingers, "anything" on our body.but it hurts .. what can we do or find to help them with this situation? He is 4 months old..and sooooo sweet.

A four month old kitten does not need to nurse anymore, when he starts trying to suck distract him with a toy. Something on a string is best, especially if it has a bell on it, visit your local pet store and load up on cat toys!

A baby bottle to feed it, then just the nipple or pacifier it it still wants to suck on something.

Some people actually find this behavior "charming". Try to be forebearing about it. It is an emotional need and you should be a tolerant as possible.

I wonder if the kitten would respond to a baby pacifier. It might be worth a try. It will be interesting to see what others have done about this "problem".
