What could be wrong with my cat2007-11-25 12:27:25

He's very dizzy, his nose is running and stumbles when he shakes his head around. His pupils were very dilated and his third eye lid is starting to close on one of his eyes. He also has a fever. His head is also tilted and he isn't eating. I was told it might head trauma or cancer but he's been in the house the last few days and his illness came all of a sudden. He was fine sunday, he came in from outdoors, ate, used the bathroom and then he fell asleep on his mat but he slept all day on monday and woke up like this. He was around a neighbors cat that looked really sick, could it just be a cold?

I'm no vet but this could be several things. It sounds like an inner ear infection, poisoning, toxoplasmosis or leukemia. Most likely inner ear infection or poisoning. This is around the time people drain their antifreeze fluid from their cars. They usually leave it laying around or they pour it into a gutter. Cats and dogs love the smell of it and will try to drink some of it. It only takes one little lick to become poisoned. It could also be flu or an ear infection. Either way you'd need to take him to a vet to get some antibiotics. You might need to commute to find a more professional veterinarian. Whatever you do don't take him to the unprofessional vets, i did once and they killed my dog. If they don't take their work seriously then they won't treat your pets condition seriously.

I wouldn't mind anyone being "unprofessional" in an emergency situation! Get your cat some help, he's depending on you! Any help is better than no help at all. Don't let him suffer, please!

Take it to the vet now or surrender it to the Humane Society in your area if not you could get a fine for cruelty to animals.

This is not just a cold--THIS Is very serious and he needs medical attention--If you dont like the vets in your city go to the nearest city and find one there or better yet go to an emergency clinic There is bound to be one some where near you--IF that doesn't work and you don't know who to go to CALL animal control and ask what vet they recommend.He is obv. not doing well and no one here can tell you what is wrong.. he needs vet care

You are listing the symptoms of distemper. Has you cat been immunized? Are the boosters up to date? This cat need vetrinary help or it will die. There is no home cure for what is wrong with your cat.

Bring you cat to the vet immediately. Why do you want to waste more time letting the cat suffer like this? If you love your cat, do this. Obviously the cat needs professional care.
