What might I expect? How long is an 8-month-old kitten likely to take to recover? I've never done this before. Should I set up a little low-edged litterbox next to the (heated; she's spoiled) cat bed? Etc.
Answers:Most are quiet for the first 24 hours, as the anaesthetic wears off. After that they are their usual selves. Use your regular litter box, she will be fine.
Perhaps for the first night make sure her bed is turned on (yeah she is spoiled, but her why not) to a nice warmth.
She may not want to eat, but have food there for her.
At the Shelter, the cats are back the day after and play with the others. If they dont feel like playing, they stay in their own beds.
Just watch to see if her stitches annoy her. It is rare, but does happen. Usual licking (cleaning) is fine, but if she is continually at them check to see there is no infection. If so, you can wipe with salted water, but if they look red and inflamed take her back to vet.
All in all it is we humans that are more traumatised by the procedure than the animal. Just keep an eye on her, she will be fine.
A really pissed off cat.
Sorry, I don't have a real answer, but I couldn't resist. ;)
A SORE CAT
it shouldnt take him long to recover.but you have to get special litter for a while ( i think 2 weeks) It's like recycled newspaper type stuff, sorry i forget what it's called. Make sure you take kitty home in a carrier cuz he'll probably get nervous and pee everywhere(mine did).
